Astir palace paros12/4/2023 Table service with a menu is what is expected at 5* not buffet. Running a buffet breakfast for a 5* dining experience, is really not what you should expect, especially for the amount of money you have paid per night. You would have thought for a 5* hotel in a location like this - shuttle buses into the village would be put on. For the location it is set, it is beautiful but you do need a car to get into the Village. Sadly this hotel is not a 4* or 5* and needs lots of work to bring it back to 5*. Thank you for a wonderfully experience we certainly will be back. Especially Daniel - who made my two little boys feel so at home and often spent time speaking with them and kicking a bit of the soccer ball too. A big shoutout to Antonis, Afro, Dimitri and the reception staff who were always so patient with my families indecisiveness. The breakfast was not good, fruit was often brown and was not replenished often. A little bit of what Aussie’s would consider “Modern Day Slavery” it was quite sad for me to witness this especially given how hard these young staff were working and the Horus they worked. The manager of the catering area was lovely to guests, and very helpful to me and my family, sadly this did not translate to his staff, as a greek Australian it was quite disappointing to hear how he spoke to them. Overall the hotel was lovely, picturesque, very clean and the staff were very helpful and polite at all times. My family and I stayed here for 8 nights. In the meantime the Greek Tourism Organisation should have another look at the number of stars it currently deserves. With substantial new investment, progressive management and well-trained staff it could become the real “Star of Paros”. Restaurant menus are in the form of photocopies on loose, typed A4 sheets of paper!!! Really? In a 5* hotel? The restaurant is headed by a Mr Babis, probably the rudest person we have ever come across in the hospitality industry! Waiter Aphrodite and pool barman Demetris on the other hand were very polite and efficient! The hotel is well located and has extensive grounds. Also water pressure and water temperature issues should be looked into. A clean white cover over an old sofa or armchair is not good enough I am afraid for a 5* hotel. However, the furniture is aged and is in need of replacement. As a result, on several occasions we had to venture out of the resort to other properly organised beaches! Our junior suite was decent, freshly painted, spacious and clean. An old umbrella with a rusted metal pole and concrete base was lying flat on the beach throughout our stay! We raised our complaint about the facilities on the beach to the receptionist on the day we arrived and asked him to relay it to the management but unfortunately we heard nothing back. Phuket Marriott Resort & Spa, Merlin BeachĪstir of Paros is being promoted as a beach hotel but it is apparent that management has abandoned the beach! Photos on the hotel’s website show a well-groomed, albeit small, beach with nice wooden sunbeds with white mattresses but alas one finds some old style metal sunbeds (some broken) with no mattresses, dirty and covered in sand! During our week-long stay, we have seen no member of staff attending to cleaning the sunbeds, the beach or raking the sand which is full of dry or growing weeds.JEN Singapore Orchardgateway by Shangri-La.
